Cape Spartel, the pearl of the north
Cape Spartel is one of the most popular places for local and international tourists. One of the main attractions is undoubtedly the lighthouse, the first ever built in Morocco in 1864!
Its construction was ordered by Sultan Mohammed IV ben Abderrahman, at the request of the consuls of the different European powers worried by the many shipwrecks that occurred off the cape, one of which killed more than 250 young people in 1860.
Today it is one of the largest lighthouses in Africa!

Tbourida: The art of Moroccan equestrianism
The Tbourida, derived from Baroud which means “gunpowder”, is an ancient equestrian art, dating from the 15th century. It is an equestrian representation that simulates a succession of military parades, reconstituted according to the ancestral Arab-Amazigh conventions and rituals.
Each Tbourida parade is performed by a troop, called “Sorba”, consisting of an odd number of riders and horses (from 15 to 25), aligned and in the middle of which stands the chief of the tribe, the “Mokaddem”, with his mount. From generation to generation, the Tbourida preserves a strong spiritual dimension, especially because it puts the horse, a sacred animal of Islam, at the center of a breathtaking and impressive show.
The Tbourida dazzles the Moroccan and international public. It is associated with festivities: moussems, agricultural festivals and many national and family celebrations. Internationals often call it “Fantasia”, a Latin-derived name, meaning entertainment.

Feasting on Moroccan Delights: Culinary Magic Amidst Desert and Mountain Splendor
As you sit down to dine, the aromatic spices of cumin, coriander, and cinnamon waft through the air, tantalizing your senses. Your taste buds are in for a treat with a tagine, a slow-cooked stew of tender meat or vegetables, flavored with a rich blend of spices and adorned with preserved lemons and olives. The succulent, melt-in-your-mouth meat kebabs, known as “brochettes,” are grilled to perfection over an open flame.
The vibrant colors of Moroccan salads and mezze platters create a feast for the eyes, featuring dishes like baba ganoush, hummus, and an array of fresh vegetables with zesty herb dressings. Don’t forget to try the famous Moroccan mint tea, poured ceremoniously from a gleaming brass teapot, its sweet aroma complementing the desert’s tranquility.
As you savor each bite, you’re surrounded by the enchanting Sahara Desert, its golden sands stretching endlessly into the horizon, while the towering Atlas Mountains rise majestically in the distance. The play of light and shadow on the desert’s surface, the warm hues of the setting sun, and the star-studded desert night sky provide an unforgettable backdrop to this culinary journey, making it an experience that combines the flavors of Morocco with the beauty of its natural landscapes.

Moroccan Atay: Sipping the Elixir of Moroccan Culture
The preparation of Moroccan Atay is a carefully orchestrated ritual. Green tea leaves are steeped with fresh sprigs of mint and an abundance of sugar. This unique combination results in a refreshing and aromatic concoction that is both soothing and invigorating.
Sipping Moroccan Atay is not merely about satisfying one’s thirst; it’s an experience that invites you to slow down and savor the moment. The tea is traditionally poured from a height, creating a frothy layer on top, and it’s customary to take multiple small sips, allowing the flavors to envelop your senses.
Moroccan Atay is more than just a beverage; it’s a social activity that brings people together. It’s enjoyed during family gatherings, business meetings, and moments of relaxation. The act of sharing tea fosters connections and conversations, making it a fundamental part of Moroccan social life.
Furthermore, the tea is often paired with Moroccan pastries or snacks, enhancing the overall sensory experience. The blend of sweetness, minty freshness, and the warmth of the tea creates a delightful harmony that lingers on the palate.
